Mark, I didn't notice that explicitly, but it certainly adds to the progression of the story, and seems quite fitting.

Thanks for reading! This was by far my favorite writing effort, maybe because writing that much action is new to me.

Dave - I like the idea of hyphenating it to "Wal-Get," but I wanted the merger to look equal, and adding the hyphen would have given Wal-Mart more characters in the name.

Simon - I'm sure there was some subconscious influence there. With all the news about China's increasing influence on the American economy lately, though, it was easy to imagine a future in which lots of people are bilingual English/Mandarin speakers (if not everybody). That is, after the period where everybody in the U.S. speaks English and Spanish.

I'm hoping we haven't seen the last of Falcon and the ladies.

Did anybody else noticed that, in the past, the only time anyone got hurt was due to Nature (river accident, snake bite), while one of their major motivations was to save the environment? Nature didn't really care what they were doing. it just did its thing. Theo got blasted by the TCE agents, but that was in the present (which, to us, is the future).

I'll just bet Danetta knows English and Mandarin because Mark's a Firefly fan. And that was a delightful note on which to end it. A man wouldn't get many opportunities to say something like that, regardless of whether or not it was a double entendre.

A good read, Mark. I just hope that Falcon makes the ladies earn the clothes when he gets back there.
